City of Surrey accelerates housing development with new pilot program, task force

Surrey City Council has approved a one-year pilot project to simplify the Development Permit process for houseplexes, which are multi-unit buildings with up to four units. This initiative aims to reduce application fees and wait times, facilitating quicker project starts. Additionally, a Development Approval Process Improvement Task Force has been established to review and enhance development processes, aiming to reduce timelines for rezoning and approvals while promoting best practices from other municipalities.
